So You Want to Write a Book?

It’s all in your head, but how are you going to get it from your mind to a polished manuscript? You’ve started and stopped so many times. You’ve thought about giving up, but the idea won’t leave you alone: I should write this book. I NEED to write this book.

I want to help you tell your story quicker and better.

It’s tough fulfilling the dream of writing a book and working full-time at the same time, but it’s possible. Even with a booked schedule. Even with a family. Even if you’ve tried before, and it didn’t work out. Each year, you think to yourself, “this is the year I will finally do it.” Yet, the time continues to pass. The truth is, telling your story is bigger than you. Each moment you say “next time,” readers are missing out on your knowledge, expertise, and experiences. They’re not getting that life-changing wisdom and practical advice that could change their life…and their children’s lives. They don’t get to see someone like them on the page, and not feel so alone in this world. They’re not getting that much-need entertainment and moment of relaxation to just be. They’re missing out on you.

You’re missing out too! Whether you’re an expert seeking more speaking engagements and business leads or a storyteller bursting at the seam with ideas, telling your story makes life more purposeful and prosperous for you too.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. ~Maya Angelou

Writing a book is a process. Even once you decide to DO IT, going at it alone can be overwhelming. Where to start? What about publishing? Do your words sound like you? What part to work on first? What do you do when those first few pages flowed, but when you reached a point where your rough draft…got ROUGH.

Frustrated writer

Don’t let these common obstacles convince you that now’s not the time. There isn’t a perfect later in which your muse will suddenly bless you with all the brilliant ideas. However, there is a process to get you from draft to done.

I know it’s hard to get started and even harder to finish. That’s why I’m here to help you. I wrote all of my books — from adult fiction to inspirational non-fiction — while balancing a public relations career and family, so I know how it goes! That’s why I created the 9-to-5 Writers Studio, where we can work out your words TOGETHER. This is a special space that keeps us writers encouraged and equipped to tell our best stories.

The one-on-one coaching and strategies I offer are customized for aspiring authors who have limited time and experience writing full-length manuscripts. I help writers like you with:

  • Time management and maximizing writing time around work and family obligations

  • Book planning and outlining to craft a manuscript that keeps your readers engaged

  • Manuscript writing, development, and editing to deliver a high-quality reading experience

Are you ready to finally get it done & publish your book? Let’s get to work.

Your Writing Coach

After 15+ years of public relations work and publishing five books, I can’t get enough of finding and telling great stories. I created strategic methods for the madness of writing while working, because I had to! Despite 40+ hour workweeks and family responsibilities, there was no way I was leaving this earth with my stories untold. The good ones. The funny ones. The life-changing ones. I won’t let you do that either. Writing is about more than helping you perfect your words. Clients trust me to help draw out their best stories and maintain their unique voice. I can’t wait to help you too!
